I had to have Sam pinch me this morning - to see if I was dreaming or not.
We had a good flight - were "inflight" about 23 hours and a total of about a total of 28 hours, so we were pretty tired. Good flights and they even fed us on the flights.
We flew from Portland over Greenland and to Frankfort. 10 hours in the Frankfort airport and then on to Athens at 6:00 p.m. We arrived in Athens about 10:00 and by the time we took a bus and taxi to our hotel it was 1:00 by the time we were in bed.
After a good 8 hours sleep, we were ready to go. Just a five minute walk to the Acropolis. We got there quite a bit ahead of the crowd so that was nice. Beautiful weather.
Just to show we ARE here
As you can see there is scaffolding and they are working on preserving the Parthenon. We also saw the Temple to Athenia (mentioned in Acts 17), and, of course, this is the place Paul was when he talked tothe Athenians on Mars Hill. Hard to take in that we were walking in places Paul was 2000 years ago.
We leave for Rome tomorrow (Saturday evening) at 6:00 p.m.
All for today!
