Our next stop is Rome - we came by plane last night (Saturday night 4-24) from Athens. Just a short hop - 2 hours and now we are in Italy. Again hard to take in.
We took a taxi to our hote - SO interesting - it's on the 3rd floor of a large old restored building (home perhaps?? Not sure. The 4th floor is another hotel. Very nice accommodations. Even free internet.
We decided to buy a Roma Pass which provides free transportation to everything we want to see and also entrance to the most important sights.
So this morning it was the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. WOW - Sam got tired of the ruins, but studied them all already filled up a memory card!!
This is the Arch of Titus which was built by Jews after they were captured and brought to Rome. They had to build this temple as slave labor. Massive! It's at the entrace to the Roman Forum.
This is where Julius Ceasar died at the hands of his Senators and even his adopted son "é tù Brutè?"
More later......needs to rest my weary feet!
